Based at the top class Wynyard Golf Club in the heart of the Tees Valley, a prestigious venue in the North East of England that offers superior standards of golf and hospitality. Players also receive golf lessons from the famous David Leadbetter Golf Academy – the only one in the UK, infact all instructors are fully qualified coaches and Leadbetter-certified to offer superior golf lessons.
The National Golf Academy offers the opportunity for any young golfer with a low handicap to receive golf lessons and play each day, alongside obtaining a recognised educational qualification – all delivered in the first class surroundings of Wynyard Golf Club. Set in 200 acres of mature parkland, The Wellington Course at Wynyard Golf Club is rated as one of the UK’s best golf courses. Stretching 7000 yards from the back tee, this outstanding 18 hole, par 72, championship course includes sweeping fairways, panoramic views, elevation changes and over 80 bunkers to challenge the most experienced of golfers.
Our superior team of certified instructors is uniquely qualified to offer golf lessons to students helping them reach their full potential by developing sound fundamentals, techniques and tactical game elements. The result is a stronger athlete, who is mentally ready to handle every competitive rigor .— all in a fun, challenging environment that prepares you for life on and off the golf course. The Advanced Apprenticeship in Golf offered at the National Golf Academy is a combination of two elements:
1) An NVQ in the chosen sport (Golf) as provided by individual and group coaching, practice, general play (including overseas) and competition.
2) The BTEC in General Sport, providing the equivalent of two “A levels”.
Offering indoor and outdoor facilities for coaching and game analysis, a top class course, access to the UK and European top coaches through David Leadbetter Academy – the golf lessons academy aims to turn out the best professional golfers. The Academy’s coaching programme features golf lessons with a combination of expert instruction, small group sizes, a competitive atmosphere, and physical and mental conditioning, The National Golf Academy’s programme provides the ultimate preparation for collegiate golf. It will help student’s scoring ability by teaching proper course management and shot-shaping, while providing students with the confidence to execute from the practice range to the course.
The National Golf Academy is open to British and foreign nationals aged between 16 - 19 years who are single-handicap golfers seeking to simply improve their game or with the goal of turning professional. The course is unique and there is no better place at which a young person can develop their personal and professional skills in golf. There are a maximum 30 places available annually, starting early September 2012.
